Instead of the making the 80 Block quilt ….I made a 42 Block Throw. They are made the same…you just add more blocks (and use a flower die instead of the scallop square die).
I had made one mistake when I was making it….I accidentally put two pieces of fabric with dragonflies next to each other…..and I’m happy to report I was able to move it.
The Scallop Squares were cut with a Big Shot Die Cut Machine (which sales for only $99) and the Scallop Square die and I have instructions I’m working on.
Here’s what I have so far:
- 3 yards of white or ivory fabric (I prefer Moda). This is for your 8″ Blocks.
- 8 Fat Quarters (the more patterns the better) I used five patterns with mine…so you could double up on a few to get 8.
- If you prefer to purchase yardage instead of Fat Quarters – purchase 1/3 yard of fabric for each pattern you want to use. You need at least five patterns.
- Batting, Binding & Backing Fabric – you’ll need 3 yards of Backing Fabric, for the throw size (can be purchased after you’ve made the quilt top if you’re using a color…I tend to use the same white or cream for my mine). As for the Batting & Binding…. I leave that to the experts and take it to my local quilt shop and they measure it.
